Son of Thunder

In the book of Mark, Jesus called James and John, sons of thunder because of their temperament. They were very bold, fervent, and quite passionate about Jesus and His gospel. In the world we live in today, we see people who are so passionate about so many things; sports genres, sports teams, colleges, vehicle manufacturers, politics, foods, life styles, and even denominations and their beliefs, just to name a few. Some of these passions have been so strongly observed by people that they have divided houses and damaged relationships. But are we as passionate about our walk with Jesus Christ? Are we the type of person to cower and be quiet when the world says “sit-down”, or do we take a stand for what we believe. If Jesus were to review your temperament, would He call you a Son of Thunder or would he see you more as a sprinkle of rain?

How’s your walk with Jesus Christ?

Do you know Him as your savior? Oh sure, you may go to church, pay tithes, give offerings, keep His commandments, and take the Pastor or visiting evangelist out to dinner every week. You may even listen only to gospel music, watch Christian television, and read your Bible daily. But none of that means you actually know Jesus as your savior. Do you have a personal relationship with Him. He loves you and He yearns to have that intimate relationship with you. We cannot go to Heaven merely by our good deeds. Jesus said “…unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [John 3:3] I pray you know Jesus as your savior and that you do have that intimate relationship with Him. However, if you don’t, I invite you to not waste another moment. Time on this earth as we know it is coming to an end quickly, much quicker than many believe. Yes, I know, we’ve heard that “all our lives”, but my friend, those signs are closer and much clearer than they have ever been. In addition to that, we don’t know when we will draw our last breath; we’re not promised our next one.

“Pray this prayer with me….Jesus, I’m a sinner. I ask you to forgive me of my sin, wash me in the blood, your blood, the blood you shed for me. I believe you are the Son of God and that you died for me. Come into my heart, Jesus, so that I can live with you forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer I ask you to let me know, I’d like to welcome you into the family.
